The Embassy of France in Ghana is collaborating with the Scholarships Secretariat to offer full scholarships to Ghanaian students at the Master’s and also PhD levels on a merit and need basis, as a component of the structure of academic collaboration and academic movement between France and Ghana for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Eligibility For The Embassy of France in Ghana Joint Degree Scholarships.

  1. Firstly, applicants must be Ghanaian citizens.
  2. Master’s degree = 35 years; PhD = 40 years for joint application; ScholSec application alone = 45 years.
  3. Academic level: Bachelor’s degree for a Master’s, Master’s degree or MPhil degree for two years for a PhD.
  4. French as a foreign language, STEM, Health, Environment, and Sustainable Development, Tourism, Archaeology and Heritage studies, as well as agriculture and Food Industry are all areas of study.
  5. Also applicants with a First Class or Second Class Upper degree will be given preference evaluation.
  6. French proficiency: French proficiency is not required for application (except for French as a Foreign Language).

  1. PhD applicants should have at least two years of post-qualification experience.
  2. National Service was completed.
  3. Ghana is one of the eligible countries.

‘Co-shared’ Scholarships for Master’s Degree Applicants

Duration and Benefits

  1. Scholarship for 24 months over a two-year period, including:
    – One (1) round-trip ticket to France
    – Visa on Arrival
    – Free basic registration fees to a French higher education institution up to a maximum of €5,000 per year and likewise Social Security Insurance
    – Provisional monthly stipend (residual sum to be paid by the student = around €300/month)
  2. A stipend tailored to the length of the programme.

‘Co-shared’ Scholarships for PhD Scholarship Applicants

Duration and Advantages

  1. Three (3) six-month stays in France over a three-year period, including:
    – Three (3) round-trip plane tickets to France (One (1) per stay.)
    – Free Visa – No basic registration fees to a higher education institution in France, up to a maximum of €5,000 per year, not to mention Social Security Coverage
    – Partial monthly stipend (remaining amount to be paid by the student = around €500/month)
    Consequently, please keep in mind that none of these benefits constitute a full scholarship or fully cover the total cost involved.

Additionally, to obtain a student visa, selected candidates must show proof of additional sources of income totaling at least 615 euros per month, a portion however, which may be covered by the scholarship.
