Qualifications for the African Internship Program at the African Union Commission.

• A Bachelor’s degree or an advanced or postgraduate degree is generally required (Masters) degree in a comparable academic discipline;
• Be citizens of an African Union Member State.
• Be a full-time student who is currently enrolled in their last year of undergraduate or graduate study.
• Proficiency in at least one of the working languages of the African Union (Arabic, English, French or Portuguese).
• At the time of choosing, you must be no older than 32 years old.
• Exhibit the highest level of morality and honesty in particular.
• Have never been found guilty of a significant crime, with the exception of minor traffic infractions.
• In addition, previous employment is not necessary for internship positions..

Terms and Conditions

• The AU has no financial obligation to the interns; they are responsible for making their own travel plans as well as paying for housing, and covering other living costs.
• African Union will also make a good faith attempt to help the interns acquire entry and residency visas.
• There will be no travel reimbursement for interns.
• Each candidate will only be permitted to complete the three-month internship once, with one renewal.
• At the expense of the Commission, interns are however not entitled to medical transport or medical evacuation to and from their internship location. As a result, interns must obtain personal insurance coverage for the whole internship.

Necessary skills

  1. Good interpersonal skills.
  2. Proficiency in one of the official working languages of the AU (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, or Kiswahili), and fluency in another AU language(s) are all advantages.
  3. Proficiency in (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  4. Proficiency with email and internet tools.
  5. And the capacity for verbal and written communication are all requirements.
