UNESCO Silk Roads Youth Research Grant | DETAILS

As part of the Silk Roads Programme’s ongoing work to better understand the rich history, shared legacy, and spirit of the Silk Roads, UNESCO launched the ‘Silk Roads Youth Research Grant’ in 2021 within the framework of the Social and Human Sciences Sector, with the support of the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO. The third edition was released on March 8, 2023.

The panel will award 12 grants of USD 10,000 each based on the proposed research’s strengths and potential contribution to furthering understanding of the interactions and exchanges taking place along the Silk Roads, as well as the concrete elements that result from them. The grant will be distributed in two installments.

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the UNESCO Silk Roads Youth Research Grant:

  • Applicants must have completed their studies.
  • Postgraduate researchers from any country who are 35 or younger at the time of application are eligible to apply.
  • The proposed research could be conducted by a single researcher or as part of a group or collaborative project.
  • However, each research project will only receive one grant.
