The IFAD Agrihub Nigeria project, in collaboration with BIC Farms Concepts, is offering the Youth Agripreneurship Apprentice Program (YAAP) to aspiring and highly motivated Nigerian youth who want to be self-employed or work in the agriculture industry.

The project’s varied activities aim to enhance the livelihoods of youth in the rural economy. Agrihub seeks to establish an inclusive approach that offers chances to persons with limited education.

IFAD Agrihub Youth Agripreneurship Apprentice Program (YAAP) What to Expect

The IFAD’s Agrihub initiative, in collaboration with BIC Farms Concepts, is delivering a strong curriculum on Soilless vegetable gardening for youth (male and female) to increase youth interest in agriculture.

The program combines classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and internships. The selected recipients get knowledge about starting businesses or working in the agricultural industry as a result of the training.

The IFAD Agrihub Nigeria initiative aims to provide jobless Nigerian youth and prospective agripreneurs with skills that would qualify them for self-employment or wage employment in order to better their living in the rural economy.

Criteria

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 29.
  • Youth must be enthusiastic about agriculture, particularly renewable energy solutions for agriculture and its value chain.
  • When applying, the beneficiary must be unemployed.
  • Beneficiaries must have a junior or senior high school diploma and be fluent in English or the local language.
  • Applicants living in Siun/Ogere and Abeokuta, Ogun state (the training facility’s sites) would be given priority.
  • Applicants must have access to a working cell phone.
  • To engage in all areas of the program, participants must be physically and intellectually healthy. Applicants with certain disabilities are encouraged to apply as well. This must, however, be conveyed properly during the application process.
  • Applicants must be willing to commit to this program for three months.
  • Applicants must be willing to work as interns in machine fabrication companies.
  • Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
