Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, also known as SMU, recognizes a number of essential criteria that define the university. How to Apply to SMU for the Class of 2024/2025

To apply for admission to SMU, please follow the steps outlined below.

STEP 1: Navigate to the SMU Online Application Portal using a high-speed internet connection.

Select a qualification.

STEP 2: Obtain an application form and fill it out completely and precisely. Fill in your names exactly as they appear on your identification/passport paper.

STEP 3 Gather your documents and upload them, along with certified and individually scanned copies.

STEP 4 Complete the application form.

STEP 5: Submit the application fee.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

Your application will be rejected.

  • If you have not submitted all of the above-mentioned application documentation.
  • Unfortunately, if you have not submitted the requisite evidence within two months, your application will be rejected.
  • The University receives more applications than it can handle, and passing admissions requirements does not ensure acceptance.
  • University residences are restricted in number, and admission to SMU does not guarantee a spot in residence. Places are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, and the University is under no obligation to grant a place in the residence.
  • Before enrolling as students, all non-South African citizens and non-permanent residents must get a study permit.
  • Applications for study permits should be filed to the South African Home Affairs, Consulate or High Commissioner in your country of origin, and they will be issued in the name of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University and must be presented at the time of registration.
  • Application forms received after the deadlines will not be considered.
