This program, officially named the Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP), is open to construction workers who are willing and prepared to relocate to Australia.

Under the CVSP, applicants can benefit from complimentary visa support services and receive financial incentives of up to $10,000 Australian dollars. These incentives are designed to encourage and facilitate the relocation of construction workers from other countries to Australia, where they can take on vital roles in the construction sector.

Construction Visa Subsidy Program | Key Information

The newly introduced Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP) is a prominent initiative of the Australian Government, specifically aimed at assisting Western Australian construction businesses in meeting their skilled workforce needs.

This program will grant payments of up to $10,000 to support skilled migration visa pathways for workers. It will also help offset various expenses, including those related to migration agent fees, visa application fees, and relocation costs.

The program offers two distinct pathways: one for WA employers (CVSP Employer Sponsored Stream) and another for independent skilled migrants (CVSP State Nominated Stream).

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria for the Australian Government Recruitment for Construction Workers:

  • Be sponsored by a CVSP employer as a skilled migrant in one of the following visa subclasses – 482, 494 or 186;
  • Sponsored CVSP employer must be headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in Western Australia.
  • Be granted a visa through the WA State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) in one of the following visa subclasses – 190 or 491;
  • Be employed by a business headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in WA; and
  • working in an eligible occupation.

Application Procedures

How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the Australian Government Recruitment for Construction Workers are to follow the following steps to apply:

Step 1

Lodge an Expression of Interest in SkillSelect to indicate your interest in WA State Nomination.

Step 2

If you have not already linked with an eligible WA employer, you can enter your details on the Skilled Migrant Employment Register (SMER).

Step 3

Once you have been approved for State Nomination and your visa has been granted by the Commonwealth’s Department of Home Affairs, register your arrival and visa approval with Migration Services.

Step 4

When you have commenced your employment with an eligible employer, and received your first payslip, complete the CVSP State Nominated Stream – Milestone 1 – Claim Form to receive your first payment.

Step 5

When you have completed six months of work in WA’s construction industry, complete the CVSP State Nominated Stream – Milestone 2 – Claim Form to receive your final payment.
