Queen’s University Belfast Vice Chancellor’s Illuminate Fellowship | DETAILS

Queen’s intends to attract, train, and foster great researchers who will conduct world-class research and become tomorrow’s research leaders.

Our Faculties are especially interested in proposals from researchers with expertise in the following fields:

Medicine, Health, and Life Sciences are all branches of science.

  • It is especially encouraged to use data/advanced technologies and platforms in healthcare to address social concerns related to these themes.
  • Multidisciplinary approaches and/or patient-centered research in cancer, eye illness, lung inflammation, and lung regeneration with a focus on immunology, molecular/cellular biology, or microbiology, including how pathogens form and spread.
    Complexity science, health systems and policy research, public health modeling, behavior change, implementation science, planetary health, epidemiology, and data science are all areas of study.
  • Maternal and Child Health, Chronic Illness and Palliative Care, and Education and Practice are all areas of focus.
  • Pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, or clinical pharmacy in fields such as drug delivery, biomaterials, advanced manufacturing, drug targeting, biosensors, pharmaceutical microbiology and microbiomics, respiratory medicine, primary and secondary care, and so on.
  • Understanding Health and Disease, Transforming Agri-Food Systems, and Sustaining Ecosystems and Biodiversity are just a few examples.

Engineering and physical sciences are two disciplines.
  • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering: Net Zero Engineering with a focus on sustainable energy, such as batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen systems, and closely related topics, as well as the circular economy.
  • Mechanical and aeronautical engineering: digital twins, cyber-physical systems, and VR/AR for engineering/manufacturing system design.
  • Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science: Electronics for a Sustainable Society or Sustainable Materials and Electronic Systems, with subjects ranging from materials to flexible electronics to sensors to power electronics.
  • Civil: activity in The Intelligent and Sustainable Infrastructure Group or The Water and Energy Resources Group in the Natural and Built Environment.
    Psychology is concerned with behavior modification, decision-making, and intervention.

Criteria for Eligibility.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Queen’s University Belfast Vice Chancellor’s Illuminate Fellowship:

  • A PhD in a relevant field is required.
  • Typically, 2 to 8 years of post-PhD experience is required.
  • Records of high quality publication.
  • A research profile and plan that is matched with Queen’s existing research strength.
